thanks for the specs, but what is the approx. horse power of the evo II? as i read your posts and look at the photos, i get more and more amazed with the Finnish rallyes and participants (both cars and drivers<img src="/images/graemlins/gris.gif" alt="" />) - it looks quite pro... are those rallyes for amateurs or are they dominated with professionaly prepared cars and rally teams?
also, i've spotted a nice escort rs2000 (?) on the photos from Rallit 2005-06 - your team as well? lots of nice classic gtis - what is this silver hatchback (on on of the photos stands next to the suzuki)? talbot, toyota? -

Long time since last visit... But here again. I couldn't
even find the old topic anymore so had to start a
new one, sorry. a Lot has happened, but no, we
haven't stopped using Suzuki'sI've thought you forgot about friends from Poland <img src="/images/graemlins/gris.gif" alt="" />
All the previous videos were from Swift build to
national group F, which allows a bit wilder technic
(for example we had GTi Golf brakes and gearbox
with almost perfect ratios, not the ones
homologated). Now since i moved from rallysprint
mainly to rallies, I have driven a group A Swift,
and here comes again some in-car footage. Notice
that we don't have pacenotes, and we drive as we
see... Only dangerous places are marked with
!-marks, and junctions also. On this event, result
was fourth out of 13 starters, so very good
actually (class gr. a under 1400cc) as we have
those 160hp kit-car Micra's and 150hp VW Polo's
against us.Congratulation! <img src="/images/graemlins/bravo.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif" alt="" />
In-Car from stage four:
http://www.elisanet.fi/merja.kupari/videos/mantsalaek4.mpg
And some clips:
http://www.elisanet.fi/merja.kupari/videos/mantsalatapahtumia.mpg
It is actually quite slow road for Finnish rally,
specially at the end of the stage. If you want to
know bit about the speeds, the calculated speed
when changing from third to fourth gear is about
150km/h (yeah, great ratios :D)
You can find some more videos at
http://www.m-kracing.net/videot.htm (sorry, new
site and not in english anymore... but maybe
coming). Also for some pics, go to
http://www.m-kracing.net and after that, select
Kausi 2007 (few pics from this years events) or
Galleria, and from there something under the
headlines rallit or rallisprint.Nice <img src="/images/graemlins/gris.gif" alt="" /> Could we put your videos on our new website www.swiftklub.pl ? (Sport Videos section in Download) Members of our Club could find it in one place and download faster <img src="/images/graemlins/biglaugh_.gif" alt="" />

Even if you look at the videos it seems that EVOII has a lot more hp, but actually they are quite even, or even a bit more on the EVOI Swift, BUT the gearbox makes a HUGE difference! You must have over 6000rpm all the time but with original ratios, that surely is impossible.
Yes that silver one is a Toyota Starlet, around 180hp and very hi-tech, also made to group F. Ford also belongs to our team, you can find more photos of it at "Tekniikkaa"-page.
And about Finnish rallies... They're very popular here, in the same event there are even some prof teams, and us who just drive for a hobby <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> And the spirit is unbeliviable. For example if you have some problems in service, you'll get help not depending if you are driving just for a hobby or more serious. And as the rallying culture here is very different, even those cars build in home garage in own time are sometimes amazing when it comes to quality of building.

Nice Could we put your videos on our new website www.swiftklub.pl ? (Sport Videos section in
Download) Members of our Club could find it in one place and download fasterNice site you have!! Eventhough I can't understand any Polish I found lots of interesting stuff from galleries and downloads-section <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> And you surely can put videos there if you want. From http://www.m-kracing.net/videot.htm you'll find a lot more of them and every in-car video is from a Suzuki <img src="/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

at "Tekniikkaa"-page.thanks, i've found the photos - a classic, good, reliable gt - love them old school pocket rockets<img src="/images/graemlins/gris.gif" alt="" /> is this starlet n/a? 180hp is hell of a power for such a small and light car...

quality of building.i'm jealous<img src="/images/graemlins/gris.gif" alt="" /> i guess it also has to do with the availability of aftermarket and other parts for sport; i also spotted a white honda integra - not a common car for rallys, rather for the Fast&Furious city show-off<img src="/images/graemlins/gris.gif" alt="" /> just wondering - is rallying an expensive hobby in Finland? from what you've said, it seems to me that it's quite popular, therefore i reckon it's not so expensive.

thanks, i've found the photos - a classic, good, reliable gt - love them old school pocket
rockets is this starlet n/a? 180hpYes, no turbo's and best Starlet's have around 180hp, lets say from 160 to 180 on top ones.
i also spotted a white honda integra - not a common car for rallys, rather for the
Fast&Furious city show-offActually they were quite popular here in Gr. N Under 2000cm3 when they came to markets... Nowadays Type-R Civic's and Renault Clio's are faster though. That Honda isn't actually ours, our team member used to be a co-driver in it for one tear <img src="/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
just wondering - is rallying an expensive hobby in Finland?
from what you've said, it seems to me that it's quite popular, therefore i reckon it's not
so expensive. It surely is just as expensive as anywhere else but maybe our history as a rallying country helps in it... Of course there are huge differences between classes, and this our under 1400cm3 class is nowadays one of the most cheapest, and because that quite popular, class.
Let's say a good Suzuki with which you can even a bit fight for the top three places, and in smaller events for the win costs about 8000e, and we have counted that driving a rally quite near to you (

Found a good post about rallying in finland in ralli.net, our finnish rallying forum (in English):

It's something we almoast didn't had last winter... no snow = no driving sideways <img src="/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> -
what happened to your top engine cover, did you hit something, or just someone forgot to close
it?Heh someone forgot to close it... Happily just the other side was open
<img src="/images/graemlins/hehe_.gif" alt="" />in both cases real peace of good looking drive , please writte some more info about your
standings in this competitionI finished fourth in my class (Gr. A under 1400cm3) with one Micra Kit Car and two VW Polo's ahead, if I remember right 13 came to finish.
In Finnsh junior rally championship there are four classes, and all classes have same points-system so winner may come from any class. After three winter-events I'm in position 16 out of 70 starters, hopefully in top ten after summer <img src="/images/graemlins/20.gif" alt="" />
So three winter events, three summer events, four classes, cars from Suzuki's to Type-R Civic's and "blind" roads, meaning no pacenotes and drivers under 27 years. Hopefully classes stay the same for next year also, then we will surely try to fight for the top three finish.
-
And again some more video. It's from junior rally championship event held 26.5 at Kotka, crash from stage two. Now we have whole summer time to build new car and we'll be back at september, even stronger than now <img src="/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> (No pacenotes and a blind crest, here's the result... Maybe a place for attention note in roadbook (there wasn't), becouse of those rocks, not becouse of the turn)

The rock wasn't so big but it was in the middle... what a pitty <img src="/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />
